Graphic Designer
A little 'bout me
Hello! My name is Jaqueline Magallanes, though I often go by Jackie. Originally from México, I have been residing in El Paso, Texas for an extended period. Prior to earning my Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with a major in Graphic Design from the University of Texas at El Paso, I accrued valuable experience as a contractor for several small businesses. Subsequently, I transitioned to a role at Helen of Troy, a prominent global consumer products company.

During my tenure, I had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned beauty brands including Revlon, Hot Tools, Bed Head, DCNL, Vidal Sassoon, Gold n’ Hot, OXO, and others. After serving as a graphic design specialist in the marketing department for a few years, I was promoted to the role of Art Production Manager, which proved to be both rewarding and enjoyable.
In this capacity, I was tasked with conducting research, initiating, conceptualizing, and developing package and graphic design concepts and files to effectively represent and individualize each brand. Additionally, I handled negotiations with suppliers, both domestic and overseas, managing the entire production process for packaging design and product displays. This encompassed sourcing, price negotiation, sample approval, production details, and ensuring timely delivery.
Other things to know: My first language is Spanish, I have a minor in painting and I thought I was gonna become a psychologist before discovering graphic design was my passion. My interests outside of graphic design include spenging time with my family and friends, reading, hang out with my guinea pigs and travel.

Achievements & Awards

I’m happy to say that one of my designs, which I conceptualized and brought to life, received the Graphic Design USA Magazine Award for best packaging in 2010.

I hold three patents for innovative brush handle designs, one for Revlon, one for Hot Tools, and another for Vidal Sassoon showcasing my expertise in creating functional and elegant solutions for the beauty industry.
This was a big achievement for me as it demonstrated my ability to think creatively and adapted my skills to develop innovative brush handle designs despite having limited industrial design experience.
